Review

This review applies to version 6.1 The latest version of this software will soon be reviewed by our informers.

MapSource 6.15.4 is a program to manage maps through your PC into your Garmin GPS device. This version is just an upgrade that can be downloaded freely from Garmin´s site, but it won´t be installed unless you have a previous version in your system. Nevertheless, I´ve found out that it can be installed, if you previously installed the program "Training Center For Windows" on your system. This program can be downloaded for free at http://www8.garmin.com/software/TrainingCenterForWindows_343.exe. A version of MapSource can also be found bundled with any map package you buy from Garmin. MapSource is not included, when you buy most of Garmin GPS devices. With MapSource you will be able to include any package you buy from Garmin (or other providers) in the software. You can view the maps on your computer, mark Waypoints and Routes, transfer them to your unit or get Celestial Information for a given location. This version of MapSource comes with a Basic map, that will show you only basic information on most locations. This version is not compatible with Windows versions prior to XP.
Advantages
  • It´s the program you have to use if you intend to upload any map to your Garmin device.
Disadvantages
  • None.
